Hi guys
I live in Aberdeen and at the moment there are a lot of road closures due to road management.
I’d like to update the map with WME but my level doesn’t allow me to do that.
Can you please let me know how I could do that?
Cheers
Flo

Hi Flo, welcome to Waze and the forums!
Waze try to maintain a delicate balance between allowing anyone to update the map and protecting the more important parts of the map from the mistakes that new editors inevitably make. I think it would be fair to say that nobody thinks they have the balance right, although people will disagree on how it should be changed.
At the moment, you are a “level 1” editor, and I think you need “level 3” to be allowed to do closures. The only way to get there is to spend lots of time improving the map. There’s a Quickstart guide here to get you going.
In the meantime, whenever you spot a closure that needs doing, post the details to this forum, and one of us mugs who wasted so much time on editing that we are now authorised to do closures will pick it up. A “permalink” to the road to be closed would be a great help. To get one, select the road which needs to be closed in the editor, and then click on the icon in the bottom-right corner that I think looks like a canoe paddle. Then paste it into your post. Please also post some documentation to the closure date/times, unless it’s on roadworks.org, in which case just say so and we can look there.
Many thanks, and don’t let editing take over your life ![]()

PS see you’ve posted the closure information while I’ve been typing this - I’ll get onto it.
Closure added.
It would be worth keeping an eye on it. You may well find that the reopening date changes depending on how the works progress, and ideally the end of the Waze closure should be adjusted to suit. The present reopening time of midnight seems highly unlikely!
