Colorado Misc

Editors,

Trails:

I was in an area today that has an Admin added trail segment as an unpaved street. It isn’t remotely complete and does not connect to anything. It has been a LONG time since I have wanted to find or use the Walking Trail option. As a level 2, the option isn’t available to me if it is available at all anymore. Should I delete and take the same approach in the future? Something that is already completed as a trail I would leave alone.

Example, https://waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lat=38.05130&lon=-107.83528&s=8522392772606&zoomLevel=15&segments=8879226

I referenced the Colorado and General Wazeopedia pages. The General page still shows the Walking Trail as an option. Colorado page does not mention it.

Ranch Roads:

I know with certainty some roads on the map (usually Admin added) are only used by the ranch owners a few times a year (ATV or horse) for gathering cattle, etc. Can I delete them? If I do not know with certainty, I will leave them as they are which is typically the Unknown direction type.

Example, https://waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lat=38.05785&lon=-107.83372&s=8522392772606&zoomLevel=16&segments=8878387,8875546

Long Private Roads:

There is a lot of discussions in the forum about mapping private roads, long or short. The example below is a segment going back into private ranch land. Is there any reason for keeping these? I leave alone privates roads that are already mapped and going back to a residence. This is not.

Example, https://waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&lat=38.06951&lon=-107.82081&s=8522392772606&zoomLevel=17&segments=8877568,8877362

County Roads:

Some clarification please… There are a lot of county roads in my area that the road maps from the local government website state as maintained but are far from it in my opinion. Most of these do not require high clearance or 4LO/HI but rather only slow movement and good brakes. I see sedans on them to get to trailheads, etc all the time. Are keeping these as unpaved streets okay?

Thank you in advance,
Mark

Walking trail is an option from the segment menu rather than as a selectable segment type for regular segments. This is because they changed the way junctions work for pedestrian paths (Walking Trail is the UK English name, we use Pedestrian Path when the language is set to US English). This segment type fairly rare to use.

If it doesn’t exist, it can go away.

Roads that aren’t used by cars shouldn’t be mapped. Admin added really doesn’t mean anything. It means they were imported from another source at some point.

Mapping to a residence is good. Examples like this that are on private ranch land do not need to be mapped.

Generally yes. Just mark them properly with the “Unpaved” attribute.
