Columbus, OH - Capital City Marathon Road Closures

Hello all,

There are several temporary closures in the downtown Columbus, Arena District, German Village, and Brewery District areas.

Road Closures:

In preparation for the event, the following roads will be closed to through-traffic from Friday evening, May 3 to mid-day Saturday May 4:

• S. High Street from Rich Street to State Street (Closed 7 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday)
• E. Town Street from S. Third Street to the Columbus Commons Garage (Closed 5 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday)
• E. State Street from S. High Street to S. Third Street (Closed 7 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday)
• S. Front Street from W. Rich Street to W. Broad Street to (Closed 7 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday)

Expect rolling closures along following routes, especially at the beginning of each race.

Half-Marathon Route: (Start Time 8 a.m.)
• Stages on S. Front Street between W. Rich and W. Broad Streets
• North on N. Front Street
• West on Vine Street
• North on Olentangy River Road (turns right at Lennox)
• Continue on Olentangy River Road
• East on W. Lane Avenue
• South on N. High Street
• East on E. Broad Street
• North on Cleveland Avenue
• East on Mt. Vernon Avenue
• South on Washington Avenue
• West on E. Fulton Street
• South on S. Grant Avenue
• West on Livingston Avenue
• South on S. Third Street
• West on Reinhard Avenue
• South on Jaeger Street
• West on E. Deshler Avenue
• North on S. High St. to finish at Columbus Commons

Quarter-Marathon Route: (Start Time 8 a.m.)
• Stages on S. Front Street between W. Rich and W. Broad Streets
• North on N. Front Street
• West on Vine Street
• North on Olentangy River Road
• East on W. Fifth Avenue
• South on N. High Street
• East on E. Broad Street
• South on S. Fourth Street
• West on E. Mound Street
• North on S. High Street to finish at Columbus Commons

5K Route: (Start Time 8:20 a.m.)
• Starts on Front and Broad streets
• North on N. Front Street
• West on W. Long Street/Dublin Road
• South on N. Souder Avenue across the Scioto River
• East on Lower Scioto Greenway Trail
• South on Washington Boulevard
• East on W. Rich Street (crosses Rich Street Bridge)
• North on High Street to finish at Columbus Commons

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately I saw the PTW late last week and didn’t have time to add any of these restrictions on the high-lock roads (I think we’re still running 24-48 hours lag on updates getting applied to the active maps, right?) – but this info may still help explain some of the closure URs.

I didn’t know about it until that morning when I heard about it on the news. I remembered the headache of driving downtown last year during the event, so I rushed to post it to the forum at least before needing to leave for class.
