Congratulations Italy wazers

Hi to all Italy wazers.

Today I was driving with waze in Italy the first time … and I’m impressed what you managed.

49 km with only 2 minor incidents (allthough I think the first was a detour due to heavy traffic)
Address search worked perfectly giving only one (correct) result.

about 15 wazers on the road

and last but not least: directions were given in Italian … even I did not change anything (and did not really understand what the lady was talking about  )

Again I’m absolutely impressed what a good community can achieve.
My congratulations!!!

GPSRitter (hope we can have something similar in Austria one day)

PS: sorry if that is the wrong forum, maybe one of the mods can move that to the correct one …

As an Italian, I’m impressed just about as much as you are, since we’re normally not exactly renowned for our sense of teamwork.

But indeed, the Waze community is a healthy exception, a shining beacon of hope… well, maybe I’m getting a little carried away.

mee too but has a nice voice… :? :? :?

I Travelled south Austria some months ago and looked a good waze work…i find velox everywhere…
Have nice trip GPS Ritter…

I am very happy that a foreign Wazer can use our hard work! I manage maps around the city of Padova, in Veneto, so I am quite near Austria: I often meet Austrian and German tourists and I always hope they use Waze and that our maps can help them. I am glad to hear that it has happened to you!!!
I hope that sometimes we could meet our avatars near on the map… and perhaps say hello to each other

+1

Thanks for all of your feedback.
I hope no one is offended about the couple of optimizations I did in the City centre of Reggio nell’Emilia.
Waze wanted me to trive against the traffic in some areas (or are traffic signs seen as a recommendation only in some areas? ) so I took the possibility to correct minor things. Additionally I have seen lot of softturns and reverse tracks so i gues someone should look into that and clean that up to avoid further confusion by foreigners

One more question:
Have you found a solution to avoid the “zonas traffico limitato”?
Waze wanted to route us sometimes throuh does zones which I would guess is not recommended

One last question:
What Italian magic did you use, to get the follwing address into waze, where no street is named like that but the address is perfectly correct … still astonished … :?: :?: :?:

ViaPalazzolo.jpg

I know that Austria is still a bit … wacky  … I just started in May … But we formed now a new “Taskforce” and a strong team (at least I hope so) to clean that up. Hope to finish the Freeways by end October and the Highways by end December so that we have a working high priority roadmap up and running by end of this year.

So whenever you see me running around in Italy, give me high five

CU & keep up your good work

Just to set “avoid toll road”: is the same DB.

Paolo

Grazie Mille Paolo

Unfortunately, and I add incredibly, Waze does not use its own internal database, but Bing’s database: so you can find the road even if it is not in the Waze’s database, because it is only necessary that road is in Bing’s database.
The problem, however, is that you cannot find a road which is not in Bing’s database, even if it is in Waze’s database: in fact I wrote here to advise that they have to solve this problem!

thanks for your comments, you are welcome, and whatever info you should need you can ask it in this forum and we will reply to you at the best of our knowledges

Andrea, asterix,

thanks for your inputs

It seems that works only in Italy. In Austria … no chance :frowning:
If you search in Vienna for example for Beingasse you get it only as the second last result.
Every other stupid street comes first even Beingasse is correct in waze … :?

Seems we still have a lot of work to do here in Austria.
But currently I`m in Spain and have seen a hell of work in Madrid for wazers … so will leave them some messages too

See you in a couple of weeks when I`m again in Italy.

See you later.

What a nice example of Community work across countries…

Btw if do a search for Beingasse, Wien, i get only one waze result and this is the correct one i think.
So maybe external searchproviders sucks for austria or you have to rethink your keywords. But i will test this in innsbruck later this month  oh i’m offtopic.

Scusa
Ciao a tutti
