Dear Community,
We hope that you’re doing well ![]()
We wanted to share a few Mentoring updates with you:
Congratulations ![]()
France has the world’s largest number of new editors who reach out to ask for a mentor!
The majority of those (83%) are level 1 editors.
This shows how many Waze users are interested in contributing to your local map, and it’s wonderful!
As you know, the community’s health and growth is a major focal point for Waze.
One of the ways to keep our community growing is to invest in the next generation of editors, and supporting level 1 editors through Mentoring is critical for keeping the community growing.
Throughout 2023 we’ve conducted several New Editor studies, which clearly showed that when new editors communicate with a real person, and get their guidance and support through an organized Mentoring program, they’re far more likely to continue editing.
In the past, the community’s leadership shared their struggles around the number of active editors, so it’s important to clarify that supporting L1 editors is critical for maintaining a healthy community.
We know that supporting new editors can be very challenging, since many of them drop out and it requires a lot of patience.
Dear leaders, mentors, and of course, Titan-ium - France’s Mentoring Coordinator -
We see and appreciate your efforts around providing new editors with all the help and support they need ![]()
Titan-ium has been acting as the country’s Mentoring Coordinator since May 2022.
He has made tremendous progress in the country’s mentoring program, and we’d like to congratulate him for his success ![]()
- The Mentoring Coordinator’s role is to lead all Mentoring related activities -
- They get the Mentoring requests from new editors
- They reach out to mentors to match them with the new editors
- They align the training materials with the mentors, so that all mentees have a similar curriculum
- They keep track of the relationship to see if anyone needs support
- They communicate with staff about Mentoring
As we finish 2023 and start 2024, we’d like to thank you for your continued support and contributions. Your local map and community rely on your editing and mentoring activities, and staff is here to support you however we can.
Thanks and have a great day,
Adrian, on behalf of the Communities team.
