An old chestnut but I’ve seen a bunch of place requests from a new editor in the Welshpool Area. The also created a bunch of footpaths for no good reason. The places don’t fit with the editor guidance which suggests that perhaps they haven’t read it - e.g. supermarket place extending across the car park, street with no name etc. What they’ve created looks useful but I’m cautious if I go down the route of approving them and altering them, the new editor won’t learn and will reach the point where they no longer need approval to create places, and I might have even more to tidy up. They have a username - “semaphore_” - but trying to message them from https://www.waze.com/en-GB/user/editor/semaphore_ doesn’t work.
Can one of the gurus help?
Thanks
Martin
Hitting the ‘message’ button to PM a user often doesn’t work properly, I’ve found - but if you create a new message and add their name into the recipients list manually it sometimes works. No idea why.
The problem then, though, is getting them to read it. More often than not a message to a new editor can sit in the out-box for months. Quite often they don’t get read at all. If they do eventually get read, they may well just be ignored. I’ve encountered all these scenarios when I’ve tried contacting new editors. A couple of times, if there’s a cluster of problematic edits and I can’t get a response via PM, I’ve resorted to putting a large comment box over the area concerned with a note explaining what the problem is (which also lets other editors know that someone’s on the case). That got a result once!
