Hey guys,
Request for unlock and correction.
According to NJ DOT (http://www.state.nj.us/transportation/capital/tcp14/map/cpmap.shtm)
Certain Streets are designated as Primary and shouldnt, Waze is routing cars to these primary streets and shouldnt use them in the calculactions( In my opinion) If waze is calculating thru those uncorrected streets and they get frustrated, they might stop using program…
Take a peek and let me know.
JFK (CR-501) is correct
Ave E is Correct
Broadway is not primary, I corrected
E & W 21 are primary and I marked
W 22 is too and I marked.
Greg
That’s a capital project map - i.e. what they are planning on spending money on, not a Functional Classification Map. Check with orbitc, but I’m pretty sure NJ is using some form of FC to set road types.
Understood
You want the functional classification maps: http://www.state.nj.us/transportation/refdata/roadway/fcmaps.shtm
Per orbitc:
Don’t go too crazy with the NFC maps, though. The important thing to remember is that they represent design and intended use, which is not always reflected in actual construction yet.
However, I think that NFC Collector Streets (Major Collector Streets on the old rural NFC maps) can be made into Waze Primary Streets unconditionally.
For what it’s worth, many of the NFC Collector Streets are also 600-series county routes which helps to note their significance in the local road networks as primary streets (and, in rare circumstances, possibly minor highways).
The two resources I’ve been using most often are the state’s GIS maps which are excellent resources for ID’ing and QA’ing county routes as well as the U.S. Census Bureau boundary maps for accurately ID’ing townships, cities, and CDPs. I got the full set of Jersey census maps and have been debating zipping them up as a resource for anyone revising township/city/CDP names and boundaries elsewhere in the state. Plus, of course, there’s the basic roadway guidelines of the N.J. Wiki.
I can’t comment on anything specific to Bayonne since I have almost no familiarity with , but these have been great resources for cleaning up stuff in Central Jersey. Identifying the county routes–and even some major township roads have been great resources in tweaking some areas that in many cases hadn’t been touched since being created in 2009.
Thanks, will use…
