Created a road, but it has gates on

Hi knowledge base,

I am slowly creating roads for a new housing estate. It appears the builders have created a secondary road into the estate which has gates on it, so in normal day to day, it cannot be used. Fortunately, they were left open and I was able to drive through and as such drawer the road (which is also named). When I put it onto the map making it so you couldn’t turn into it, the map did not like it.

Should I make it fully accessible to appease the map, or just delete the road.

Thanks

Nik

You could make the road with a double penalty (private, normal, private, normal segments) if no one is supposed to use it (has a gate), or just don’t connect it.

Hi NikKershaw,

Thanks for your work adding this new estate.

I assume you’re referring to https://www.waze.com/en-AU/editor?env=row&lat=-35.37090&lon=149.25268&zoomLevel=18&segments=442247262. Until the road is open, you can just leave it disconnected.

Note that Ellerton Dr is a yellow road? We call those a “primary street” and we lock those to level 2 editors and above. You’re currently a level 1 editor. When it is time to connect, let us know and we can temporarily unlock it to level 1 for you to connect.

Remember to include a permalink (the link above) whenever you post a request. On the right side of the Waze Map Editor (WME), click the chain link icon, then click the copy button next to the permalink URL. You can then paste this URL by pressing Ctrl-V (or on a Mac ⌘ Cmd+V), or simply right-click and click Paste.
