CRITICAL SAFETY HAZARD - WEST NEWTON, PA 15089

The segment of 1st Street intersection SR 136 / E Main St in West Newton, PA 15089 is railroad tracks. Waze is routing cars onto active CSX tracks. We have been unable to get assistance to remove the street from directions since beginning of this year. Multiple additional vehicles have turned onto the tracks almost daily and luckily did not meet the same fate as this one: https://www.wtae.com/article/westmoreland-county-box-truck-train-home-crash/70254719

I can’t replicate this. Do you have screenshots or direct documentation showing this is happening with Waze? Do you happen to know what the destination was?

We have the railroad crossing warning at that spot, so drivers can see/hear that the crossing is ahead. We also have the turns onto the railroad tracks disabled, so Waze wouldn’t route onto them.

In addition to what G_W1Z said above, there is no segment of 1st St connected to SR-136 at that spot, so Waze would not be giving any turn instructions there.

Are you sure this issue is from people specifically using Waze? It appears Google Maps has an incorrect segment of 1st Street that sounds like what you are talking about: link.

When we arrived on scene, we were advised by drivers that their navigation system directed them to turn, yet no one specifically stated which system. We have submitted with several GPS providers and have hit roadblocks trying to get any answers so I greatly appreciate your responses.

Have these drivers been referred to the DMV for driving re-evaluation?
