Looks like theres a small section of DE-1 that has the 1 shield. It’s named State Hwy 1.
Anyone have any objections to me going over all of route 1 and setting it to State Hwy 1 N/S in the hopes of getting it all shielded?
I’ll probably get all the exits named while i’m at it as well. Maybe i can send Jon a perma link when it’s confirmed to be working and shielded for a good ol’ level 4 lockdown.
Sounds great! Am I correct in assuming that “State Hwy x” shields while “State Rte x” does not? If so, I’ll do the same thing with PA 283 in Lancaster/Dauphin counties.
It seems to be the case. I’ve had State Rte 12 in my area for atleast 8 months and nothing.
I know when I updated US 30 in Lancaster, it picked up the shields. I used “US Hwy 30” there.
I’ll try State Hwy 283 as a test. It’s only 29 miles, I’ve already combined away the extraneous segments, and it needs directionals added anyway. Perfect test bed.
State Hwy was shielded when shields were introduced. It may or may not automatically shield if you rename it. I would do a small section as a test, wait for it to update on Live Map before spending a lot of time on it.
Another option is to request to Waze support to have it manually shielded as it is currently named. Per other forum posts, mixed success with this method also.
Also note that while “State Hwy #” does occasionally generate shields, “State Hwy # N” apparently does not … so if the directional does need to be added to be in compliance with the standards in the Wiki, then Route 1 will probably lose the shields anyway (at least until we see in action what was mentioned to me last week in an email from Support’s “Shirli G” regarding the missing shields: “We have a semi automated process that we’ll start running on a regular basis very soon. I believe this would fix these issues.”)
I wouldn’t spend a lot of time fixing names to get shields until Waze fixes their shield generation process. Then we will see what we have.
Spend your time fixing what is broke that we can touch.
In my case I needed to touch 283 anyway, as it needed directionals added and some other cleanup.
