I’m still a newbie to Waze but like the application so far. I checked the settings and routes but don’t see a turn by turn listing available (like Google Maps). Is this feature available in Waze? Also is there an option to avoid a certain route instead of choosing a completely different route in the list of options?
I saw a post for this a few months ago where the street names are blurry or have unreadable characters in them. I’m having the same problem on my HTC Thunderbolt with the old 3.2 version and the newer 3.4 beta version of Waze. Has anyone found some kind of workaround for this or we have to wait for an update from Waze to fix this?
Why do you want to avoid that road? Waze learns the average speed of a road at 10-15 minute intervals and will route you on the fastest available route… To “teach” Waze to avoid a road, you need to provide data for the alternate route - so select the “wrong” route, and drive the way you want to… Waze will get the data & it will use that to determine the fastest way - which may actually be the “wrong” route, but it could be the one you prefer…
It was a problem with a specific set of phones and how they display fonts… I’m pretty sure that none of the HTC phones were effected at all…
Just tried tapping on top of the screen and that’s perfect
For avoiding a specific road, I guess my main reason is that sometimes I don’t want to take a certain tunnel/bridge in a certain area. The problem is that I’m not familiar with the location sometimes so I can’t go to the “wrong” route on purpose. I haven’t used the route feature much, so I think that should solve my problem. Unless there is a shorter way to view the directions, I guess I will click on Go for each of those routes and tap the top of the screen to see the turn by turn directions.
That last post that I found on a search in this forum is here for another HTC Thunderbolt user. That user even tried reinstalling to see if it fixed the issue. If it’s a font issue, is there some package or update that I can download to correct it?
That is the thread about the Samsung issue - I must have missed that one report about the Thunderbolt…
You should submit a support request (use the NanoRep form on the support page - Search “Blurry Street Names”, then click EMail at the bottom of the results and fill out that form), they may be able to help, but at least they should be told about the issue… I don’t have any problems with my HTC Evo 4G (Sprint)…
Once you have your list of routes on the screen (either you’re given a choice when you set your destination, or you select “Routes” from the menu after the initial route is set) there is a “map” button on the top of the screen to the right.
If you tap that, you see a map showing your first route, with a route selector at the bottom. If routes are similar, you can zoom in and still switch from 1 route to another.
Thanks. I couldn’t find the form on the support page (links me to the nanorep website instead). I found the form on the Waze Facebook page and submitted it there.
