I have a toll that allows two different prices, a general price and a cheaper price for those who has an electronic device in the car (Waze passes).
It is suposed that a segment with a toll that requires a pass is not being routed through if the wazer does not have the pass set in his app. Am I OK on this?
Then, if the segment has a toll with both options, will it be considered for routing without a pass? Should I have to set parallel segments, one for each option?
If I am understanding correctly:
You can add multiple prices. You add the price with the toll tag and then add a second price with no toll tag (which is basically “cash” or “pay by mail” type)
EDIT:
To add to it, the toll prices has no affect on the actual routing. It is only used to display the price. The segments still need to be set up with the correct toll restrictions like always.
The price shown to the driver will be based on if they have the toll tag set in their app or not. If they don’t have the toll tag set, they will see the “cash” price.
In order for the app to use the toll tag as an option, the road must have a restriction set (in WME) that allows the specific toll tag restriction. This is beyond just checking that it is a toll road. If the toll road restriction is set by the toll tag brand and you remove the toll tag from your app, you will not be routed on it. It is not a fake message.
The toll tool has zero effect on routing.
I believe that Waze has always offered a toll road as one of the alt route options, when available, even when “avoid tolls” is selected in the app options. It is just not the first route offered like it may be when “avoid tolls” is not selected. The toll price has zero effect on that showing as an option, it is just displaying a price because the app is offering the option of the route.
You are not required to set a toll tag brand. If it is not set, the driver will still get shown the toll price if they have a toll tag set. The toll tool does allow us to set the price per toll tag company if needed and the price shown to the app user will the the price associated with the toll tag company set in the toll tool. But it is still not routing based off what is set in the toll tool.
Checking the wiki, I could see a “Requires a pass” option on restrictions 2nd popup:
but locally, I don’t have it!!!
BTW, messages are not exactly the same.
Anyway, now I see how this works. I’m afraid that we must change some highways to fit this definitions (when passes brand are available in my country).
If the toll can be used without a pass as well, better NOT restrict the road in WME.
Then, only add the different price for the pass in the toll pricing tool. You will be routed through the toll booth whether you have the pass or not. But people having a pass set get a different price shown.
By the way, the option in WME is only visible if the pass is added to WME as well
