About Project Eagle
Project Eagle is a training initiative designed for small groups of Waze staff. This time, it’ll be dedicated to Waze’s Support staff. Through this project, they:
- Receive internal training on WME from Waze staff members.
- Are paired with experienced community mentors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Waze community, including how to:
- Edit the map effectively.
- Engage with their local community.
- Understand and experience common challenges firsthand.
Previous rounds (1, 2, and 3) of Project Eagle have proven incredibly valuable for both Waze staff and community members, thanks to your dedicated support!
Important Details for Mentors:
- Timeline: The mentoring period is scheduled to start on Dec 1, 2025.
- Your mentee will be an L1 editor and will receive editing permissions in a designated area of your choice.
- Mentors are encouraged to select a relatively unmapped area for their mentee’s training.
- Mentors will be responsible for creating a list of tasks for their mentees to complete. We’ve learned from previous rounds, that when mentor ask their mentees to “browse around the map and find things that need to be done”, it discourages the mentees.
- Communication methods (call, chat, email, etc.) will be mutually decided between you and your mentee.
- Most mentees are proficient in English and Hebrew. Some also speak Russian and French.
Mentor Criteria:
- L4+ editor status is required.
- Mentors must be able to instruct in areas where local signage primarily uses Latin characters (this does not apply to the Russian-speaking mentor).
- Mentors should guide mentees to locations with significant editing opportunities; boosters are particularly well-suited for this role.
Thank you for your consideration and have a wonderful day,
Anat S (on behalf of the team).
