It’s crucial to be able to submit a hazard at a location I can not go to. Say there is an accident at the corner of Main st. and Williams st. I am a block away looking at fire trucks, ambulances, and police. the intersection is blocked. I have no way to notify the waze community. Getting and giving timely info about that roads status is the whole point, and would have saved me 10 mins and I could have saved other drivers now making a u-turn time as well. Many serious road hazards that actually effect driving patterns and flow are not currently postable. (Yes I can note the traffic it might cause with posts from all directions eventually) This has to be a very high priority, right?
^^ This is not a Waze feature.
It’s a program written by the Waze community, so those people are giving it priority, but also have a day to day job besides.
For now and the next months it will not be available in the usa. Please try again around august ![]()
Yikes, August? :? Anything anyone else can do to help speed up the process? Did they ever fix the International Feed the Waze?
Nope ![]()
Last news, dated 4 days ago:
This would be a great tool! I hear and respond to calls daily, which would allow me to post traffic accidents and other emergency-related traffic issues when I am dispatched. Would also be a great tool because I can report a motor vehicle accident as I’m dispatched, and if a passerby sees it, can also update incoming units such as myself on whats going on! Almost like getting a heads up/picture before I even show up. 911 centers would be able to get additional information as well from Wazers. (Lets be honest… most people calling 911 are freaking out, most Wazers are calmer.)
I’m in 100% agreement with doctorkb. I had an instance last night where there was a big piece of carpet in the road, but of coursse, I couldnt report it right then and there because I was in motion (and nowhere convenient to pull over). Had there been a way to report this when I got home, I definitely would have done it. We really need this feature in the States.
I don’t think it will ever be available.
Same with international?
For now, yes.
Any idea how Feed The Waze got the data over to Waze servers? I could find no official API that would allow that.
You should better contact the developper or Zoltan (Global Champ Hungary) on this matter…
Add me to the list of people that would like this functionality in the US. Understand that its a time and development issue and its volunteers working on it, just want to show support.
Sorry if I missed someone saying it but I think even if you had to have permissions to do it, like show you are a trained responder or such, it could potentially be a great additional resource.
TY for all the work you guys do!
I would very much like to see this.
Only discovered Waze a few days ago and have already fallen in love with it. I use a black box app (I’ll leave the name out in-case there are rules against “plugging”) in conjunction with Waze – the black box makes note of not only speed and time, but current Latitude and Longitude. I began reviewing footage from a lengthy drive I made yesterday with the intent of noting several potholes (using exact Lat/Long) only to find that it wasn’t possible.
For now, I’ll just update business information/location for areas I pass through; there’s quite a lot to do in regards to my area alone.
checking status on this…
Well, you can check the status on the FTW system with the Hungarian guys… Or maybe Waze is thinking about something to manage the automated reports from external sources?!
In any ways, FTW is working just fine for the last year…
Has anybody contact with the developers? I really would like to know how they get the data into Waze client, so I could make a new version. Which API they use, … And why don’t they OpenSource it? So we can all help and add features.
This seems/seemed like a good idea. I realize it may have fell on the back burner, with speed limits being added and a number of countries being spruced up via map raids, so here I am to bump the thread and the idea!
