Does waze know about ferry timetables? Does it take those into account when routing?
(I doubt that, but you never know unless you ask!)

According to Calmac the next departure was at 1655 - though it could have been cancelled, and how would waze know?

Waze wouldn’t know. We have attempted to input restrictions to non-operating times, but that may not be 100% accurate. This route doesn’t seem to be restrictions on it, so it must have been missed. It’s at L3, so you’re welcome to add them if you wish.
If I saw there was a ferry on the route, I’d make sure first, using the ferry operators website, that the ferry was on. If it wasn’t I’d turn the Ferry routing off.
