I am a member of the Fire Police in my local four station company (Blue Rock 90) area and also a map editor. Is there any process that I can go through to be considered for a bump to level 3 in my company’s area so I can mark down road closures, etc. that either impact apparatus response or a traffic management area that has been created due to an incident?
The app road closure response likes to show me every road other than the one I want to mark as closed which is frustrating, and if I do manage to mark a road closed on the app it seems to take a long time for that report to percolate through to other drivers. I am in a rural area where detours can turn into long country roads.
The road closure feature that’s built into the app is meant for on-the-fly closures. The closures do not remain live in the map for long. For the closure to remain on the map it needs to be added via the map editor.
You can share closure details in real time with the map editor community via our Discord server: https://discord.gg/sF39wSt
Promotion to ranks 2 and 3 often focus more on knowledge level, skill, and quality of edits (with edit count used a proxy).
Sensitive aspects of the map, such as major highways, are locked to 3 and above. It’s important for editors to fully understand what they are doing at each level so that no harm is done to the map.
I am also a Fire Police officer (York County, sta 89). If you are with the Blue Rock out of Lancaster County, My Area Manager area covers the vast majority of Lancaster Co, so I would be able to assist with entering closures you have for incidents.
If you are familiar with discord, or are willing to learn, as G_Wiz mentioned, we do have a server for the region, where you could provide the info, and any of the editors or state/regional managers would be able to enter the closures for you.
Thank you both for your replies! Knowing that there is a Discord option to get the information out to motorists is excellent and should cover what I need.
