Fix Memphis Zoo driving directions

Hey Waze support team,
Can we please fix the driving directions to the Memphis Zoo?
Currently, driving directions are taking you to a service entrance located off of North Parkway.
All vehicles traveling down the service entrance will be turned around.
We are currently having to turn around at least 30 cars every day.
Can you please fix this and send all vehicles to 2000 Prentiss Pl that is located between McLean blvd and Poplar Ave?

Are you sure they are using Waze? We have checked the map and tested routing, and the there is nothing in the Waze map that will lead them to North Parkway. We will keep looking,

If the driver types in Memphis Zoo or 2000 Prentiss Place, they will get routed properly.

Google Maps has several in-Zoo locations mapped, such as:

  • Bamboo Grill
  • Helen and Jabie Hardin China
  • Cat House Cafe
  • Crocodile Exhibit
  • and others

If the driver enters one of those locations into the Waze app, since they do not exist in the Waze map, the search engine will find them in Google Maps and attempt to route them to the closest stop point on a road, which in this case appears to be North Parkway.

There are two ways to fix this issue:

  1. Remove all of these places from Google Maps
  2. Add all of these places to the Waze map with the stop points all located at the zoo entrance.

I will discuss this with other volunteer editors.

I have added the following in-zoo venues (mapped in Google Maps) to the Waze map and set the stop point to the zoo entrance. The Waze places should take precedence over the Google Map places.

  • Ancient Grounds Coffee Shop
  • The Outpost Snack Station
  • Cat House Cafe
  • Bamboo Grille

Are there any other venues in the zoo that someone might search for in their navigation app?

Thank you ropaswan for making those edits. I have gone to remove all those small locations within the Zoo from Google Maps. Going to move all stop points within the Zoo to the parking booth.
