Forum Problems

Is it a global user permission (img in signature?) or is it set per group?

I can see that img editing for signature is set off for me. Of course, admins are immune from these permission settings.

Hey Guys,

I checked the issue with the BBCode.
It was disabled on purpose due to possible security threats against forum users. Uploading an image with malicious content can harm your accounts.
The IFS team is working on a solution, meanwhile please upload your images to the Wiki and use the URL option.

I’ll keep you updated, thank you for reporting.

Hello,
thank you for your response, I asked the question on the French forum:
Signature du Profil [img] is OFF
If the wiki page is signaled it
https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Forum_Signature_Banners
or it
http://sign.waze.tools/home/
it is impossible to find an image displayed in the signature, only the hyperlink is displayed with or without option [url]

What is the procedure to use or simply wait,
Thank you

You need to do it through the User Control Panel, look at my signature it was uploaded through wiki.

Please test this with an account that does not belong to the administrator group.

That’s right. I can’t find the way to make the URL work to display any image!
What’s the procedure to upload the image through the URL button?

You are correct sir, I wasn’t as successful with a normal account.
Lets wait to hear from IFS, they’re working on the solution.

Thank you guys!

The fix (requires admin privs):

Admin control panel -> general tab -> board configuration -> post settings

make sure the option “Allow links in posts/private messages:
If disallowed the [URL] BBCode tag and automatic/magic URLs are disabled.” is enabled!

from phpBB forum…
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=832835

And by reading several posts prior to this one, it was turned off on purpose. Until they decide to turn it back on, no images in new sigs.

How to do that? Should I created a wiki page first?
I just want to try updating my signature, but I can’t…same issue with previous comments

He uploaded it to one part of the wiki via this link https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/images/5/5e/Sig_copy.png, but this sounds like asking us to create a lot of other images just for the purpose of adding signatures

I noticed my forum post count in my dashboard hasn’t updated in several weeks. All other stats are updating daily, just not the post count. Could this be related somehow to the signature issue, like maybe they tweaked something else at the same time?

How to create the wiki page? I’ve search the wiki, then image doesn’t found anything.

If he ask us to create a lot other image at wiki, my opnion, should be a tutorial how to do this.
Not every editor are wiki master

It does not matter where the images are being kept

It is not possible at this time for ordinary users to modify the signature if the final result will contain images.

For some reason, the permission for regular users to use the [img] BBCode tag IN THE SIGNATURE has been forbidden.

At this time, most users do not have permission to use this tag IN THE SIGNATURE.
Admin users are still able to do this, because admins have all permissions.

So if someone were to upload the various signature png’s to the wiki, we could replace the IMG codes with URL codes and get a working signature?
Or would it be better to wait for an official solution to the IMG issue?

The URL code willl not display the image inline. It will only give a link to the image.

If you add
[url=http://i.imgur.com/id7U10O.gif]http://i.imgur.com/id7U10O.gif[/url]
To your signature, you will see
http://i.imgur.com/id7U10O.gif
You will not see an image of a flying pig

Ah ok, scratch that idea. Then I guess the only option is to wait for an official solution.

It does not work neither with URL codes.

Alternative solution: ASCII Art!

An alternative fix would be for Waze to give us a ‘drop box’ where we could drop pictures.
They could scan the drops and remove any malware infected items.
They would ‘host’ the vetted items and allow us to use only items on that server.

I am discussing this with Waze management. I’m not convinced this is actually a current security issue, so please stay tuned for a few days.
