There was some problem with this I’ve already noted and escalated to Waze. If you go through the hierarchy, it’s not really there, but something is making it think it is. There is something really wrong with Malaysia that is causing the forum to think it has subforums which aren’t really there.
What alerted me initially to there being some corruption is that if you drill through Asia->Malaysia->Requests for AM, there will be an “empty” forum at the top which I can’t explain. http://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=279
Yes. Turkey isn’t inside any regional subforum yet. It still shows in the main Country subforum as it hasn’t been moved. The breadcrumbs at the top should always match what you click through and right now, several countries do not, which I cannot explain at all. :?
This supposedly small and innocuous change has turned into a clusterf***. I’ve given as much info to Waze as I can and they are going to need to work on the back-end to fix what looks like some corruption/mixed forum pointer references. I’ve got no idea.
Alan, another one for the forum in the wrong place list:
“Board index ‹ Country (Language) Forums ‹ Asia ‹ Malaysia ‹ Requests for new Area Manager ‹ Americas and Caribbean” but if you go into any of the sub forums there, the breadcrumbs are correct.
I’m not complaining in any way - I know that re-organisation is underway and the forum structure is somewhat borked due to no fault of ours - but I thought I’d share the current breadcrumb trail for the UK forum:
Alan, I was talking to jemay about one of the sub forums with a suggestion. His moderator controls do not appear to let him do what we think is possible, so let me propose it here and we can find an alternate solution.
Problem:
When a new forum reader starts drilling into the US forums, they may think they need to go all the way down to their state to post a question.
When a new forum reader comes to the US forum they may post a question at the US level, when it should be in the subforums for a region or a state.
Proposal:
An announcement thread (or at least a forum sticky) for all US forums and subforums (all the way down to the state forums) with basic guidelines for when to post at each of the levels. The post would be identical for all the forums, so hopefully there is a way to make one post appear in all sub forums below it.
Now if this is currently posted somewhere, I have not run across it so likely other less OCD forum followers will also not see it (and we already discussed how much I am spending here in the forums at the disgust of other members of my family. :mrgreen: )
This main forums reorg is now complete. Mostly followed the OP with the following exceptions:
Former Map->Editing->Help when Waze… (3 forums) moved to Waze App->Navigation & Routing
An ‘* Issues and Requests’ subforum in Waze App, Waze Map Editor, and Website, Community, General forums to collect issues (not necessarily bugs) and requests for those areas. Named for easy viewing in Tapatalk as well.
Country (language) forums moved up in the view to promote local forum usage.
