Is there any way to get alerts about forum postings concerning my area, or even just to be able to search for relevant posts?
I thought this could be done by a lat and lon regexp - but the forum search seems to look at the “Permalink” text rather than the underlying URL.

You can subscribe to a sub forum to receive notifications, such as UK Editors Requests. Just scroll to the bottom of the list of topics, on the left there is a button with 3 dots. If you click that, it will show you the option to subscribe to the forum, which will generate notifications for each new topic.
I see that the UK isn’t divided into areas. See with your champs if the UK forum could be divided into areas (maybe the 4 countries?) that correspond with the areas defined for area managers. (See the Canada forum: we have a forum per province.)
