Hi! Welcome to the Waze forums!
Another new user joined recently as well and had some questions which I answered, you may find the answers helpful so I’ll link to them here: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=355&t=268870
Also, here’s an excerpt if you’re interested in editing the waze map on www.waze.com/editor :
If you want to work on something that is above your level, you can request temporary lowering of road-segment levels here: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=358
Another thing do is request a rural area to work on and build up your rank. You can request an area here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScuagZUdynIGeVU8tqQEDo8ZB-y-D6koOsEMFHoqV0Z7IShiA/viewform?formkey=dHJQUWdrUDlyX3NGcE1HZTVCcGVVQVE6MA
You can find more info about map editing at the following pages. In Canada, we generally follow the American model: https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Map_editing
A good place to start is the Best Map Editing Practice.
But we do some things different: https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/Canada/Main_Page
Hi Kayak, to add to Ben’s excellent welcome post, I am the Area Manager for Atlantic Canada and would be happy to support anything you would like to do to help out. The simplest thing you can do is use the app all the time, and encourage others to do so. And, while you drive, report anything that is problematic.
If you would like to beyond simply being a user and reporting items and, rather, help fix them. Ben’s post is a good start. You can also feel free to reach out to me through PM and we can find the best way to put you to work.
Cheers!
