In looking over some of the other regional/state forums, I’ve noticed posts with links to GIS sources. I know in looking for sources, some have no use restrictions while others may limit the use of the data contained within. Assuming they are utilized according to any county/state TOS, would it be helpful at all to create a sticky post in the state with links to relevant GIS data sources for editors to reference?
Have you checked out the wiki? http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Kansas_mapping_resources
Oh someone is busy in the Wiki
I wish I could be a more capable Wiki editor to help. I have gotten behind. Here are some GIS I have found on Google for counties in KS that I have used.
KS Functional Classification Maps
KS DOT FC
Wasn’t me… I went into to the USA Category to see if there was anything for Kansas and there it was…
Ahh, yes the Wiki. I need to remember that there’s a lot more there besides editing guides if one looks for it.
I may look into Wiki editing for things like this. So far here’s what I’ve found useful aside from Johnson County & Leavenworth County:
Wyandotte County
Douglas County
I’ve also got a small list of various city/county/state websites where road construction/closure information is posted.
KDOT - KC Metro
KDOT - Topeka/Lawrence
Lawrence, KS
Lenexa, KS
Olathe, KS
Overland Park, KS
Shawnee, KS
Topeka, KS
When I contacted my local city here in Johnson County, they said that they use the JOCO GIS I provided above for their maps and such. Just for reference.
I have used this here for closures in the state:
KSDOT 511 and I have updated most of the bridge closures on that page, within the beta feature of TBTR for some transparency of what is going on here in KS.
