Interesting predicament over there. It makes sense marking the entrances to the base as “local” the same way we mark gate entrances as “Private” with a high lock. Some military bases are huge and a little navigation assistance would be helpful.
Slightly off-topic but I kind of wish the DoD would allow Street View inside military installations. As a former USAF NCO, I understand the need for security on base but let’s be honest, nothing in plain sight is considered “Secret” or even “Top Secret”. Not even the Nuclear Storage Area at Nellis AFB is invisible to satellite views.
F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne doesn’t even have an airfield but they have been doing a lot of residential additions. A little street view would be very helpful in getting that updated.
