Got a good name for a new cartouche?

Hi guys,
As some of you might already know, we’re working on a new cartouche. It will be so different from the one we have today, that we decided it needs a new name…
so if you have any suggestions, please post them here… keep in mind that the name must be universal. Also, if it implies speed, it might help the new cartouche be much faster… :smiley:

thank you!

First thought combines two words but sort of creates a new one. WAZEDIT. Hopefully, you can see the logic. I’ll keep thinking about other names though :wink:

It’s a bit better again today!

Maybe - following the logic of Waze name (resemblance to “ways”) something like I-did which kinda sounds like “edit”? (;

Or maybe just Wazor, or - better - w4z0r which looks like you-know-what [;

Close to the previous two - Wazitor

Something with speedy name - Blazit, maybe Blazitor.

Back to option nr 3 - Wazit as a shorter version of Wazitor.

Shed some light on this new idea of yours! What? When? Why? etc.

4/3!!

Atlast!

Mercator

I think “wazedit” is genius!

Thanks for the positive comment Darren :wink:

Sisyphus, because it’s hard work editing the map.

How about Vespucci for the navigator and cartographer Amerigo Vespucci who somehow got his name attached to about a third of the globe’s land mass?

Seconded.

Thirded. We need a standard pronunciation too. Is it “waze edit” or “wazed it” or “waze ed it”? :slight_smile:

Wazed it

Nailed there I think :smiley:

How about:

  • “makewaze” (cos that’s what we do)
  • “Ortelius” (author of first atlas)
  • “Lenox” (one of the first globes)
  • “Pytheas” (early navigator from ancient Greece)

Wazedit = :smiley: :idea: :ugeek:

Now @ jondrush:
“How about Vespucci for the navigator and cartographer Amerigo Vespucci who somehow got his name attached to about a third of the globe’s land mass?”

The America’s combined are closer to 1/4th of the land mass than a third. Actually, it’s 28% - the difference between 28% and a third would be another area as big as the whole USA. (but that’s completely off-topic, but it’s Friday so please forgive me)

Hah! I was too lazy to look it up . . .

I like MakeWaze!

How about “WazeMaker” - sounds a little bit like the old trusty handgun… :wink:

I like “Phoenice”. This is the ancient greece name for the lodestar. (Stella Polaris / Ursae Minoris / Alpha UMi)

I think MakeWaze is a brilliant name. It captures what’s going on, and it kind of implies that others should get out of your way when you’re doing it. A speedy interface that allows common jobs to be done quickly would go nicely with that.

It should be short and easy to pronounce. “Wazedit” looks great, but try to imagine, how you are talking about it. That’s not working, it’s not fluent.

When I start to think of it as Waze editor, the simpliest result is “Wazor” (or “Wazer”).

I like “wazedit” and it makes sense about the applicaiton. “Wazer” sounds like razer or some old motorola phone.

I was think about “roadwaze” but that’s too much like road rage!
