Gravel Roads as Primary Streets?

I have read that we do not set gravel roads as “dirt roads”. However, is it appropriate for a gravel road to be set as a “primary street”? Thoughts?

Do you have a permalink as an example?

I will take a closer look at these examples tonight and tomorrow.
We as editors must consider the FC rules and accuracy for many of these items, and variations from the FC should be offered for consensus with the local senior editors and if variation is agreed upon, then it is best to place that variation in the state wiki so visitors will know why it has been changed and why they should not change it back.
In my experience in the southwest region there have been exceptions due to the fact we have so many areas that contain “mostly” dirt roads, this is where some local knowledge of travels in the area help design a proper routing system, and we also see many errors in the FC due to some roads never reaching the designed outcome for one reason or another.
But we should always try to stay within wiki guidance if possible.

I live a little further north on Elbert Rd from Latigo and Murphy. I would want any navigation instructions to route via Murphy which is paved and not across Latigo which is gravel. I recommend we downgrade Latigo to a Street.

The same goes for Eastonville Rd. The selected segments are gravel. I think Elbert Rd or Meridian Rd are better routing options.

Type does not influence routing until you’re going significant distance. Additionally “Dirt Roads” have the same route visibility as Primary Street and the same assumed default speed in the absence of historical data.

That’s good to know about the routing. So it sounds like the road type is only for map visuals?
