🚗 Great News for Map Editors: Major Street View Update Released for Montenegro!

Hi everyone,

We have some exciting news that will make editing the map in Montenegro much easier!

Google Street View has officially relaunched across our region with a massive imagery update. This is the first comprehensive update in nearly a decade, covering over 103,000 kilometers across Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

:light_bulb: How does this help our Map Editing Community?

Fresh ground-level imagery is especially helpful for mapping complex coastal road turns, mountain routes (like around the Tara River Canyon), and new tourism infrastructure. As you jump into the Waze Map Editor (WME), this updated coverage will help with:

  • Verifying Road Geometry & Alignments: Double-check new bypasses, roundabouts, and altered intersections against fresh real-world imagery.

  • Turn Restrictions & Lane Guidance: Easily spot updated lane arrows, solid lines, turn restriction signs, and divided lanes.

  • Speed Limits & Road Signs: Confirm recently posted speed limit signs, one-way street indicators, and city entry/exit boundary signs.

  • House Numbers & Landmarks: Validate house numbers, resort developments, and points of interest (POIs).

  • Construction & Infrastructure Changes: Identify areas where long-term roadworks have finished and permanent layouts are now open.

:world_map: Get Mapping!

If you notice areas in your region that haven’t been touched in a while or have pending map comments (URs/PUs), now is a great time to toggle on Street View in WME and take a fresh look.

A huge thank you to everyone in our Montenegrin editing community for your efforts in keeping our maps accurate. Let us know in the replies below if you spot any major road changes in the new imagery!

Happy editing,

Leigh and Albert, on behalf of the Waze Community Manager team.
