I’ve performed a search in Waze on Android (Samsung Galaxy S6), and I get the same location as yourself. Oddly, I also get the U-Turn, followed by entering the service road on the incorrect side of Sydney Rd, also approaching from the south, via M80.
A search in Google Maps provides the same location for the pin, suggesting that the data was provided by Google, rather than Waze.
I have also had a look at all of the address points that are visible on Google Maps, in case a location marker was moved (due to a business move) without updating the address. I could not find such a marker in the vicinity of where the user is directed to.
The business that was formerly at the desired location is “Lifestyle Tank Systems”, however, I cannot find a current location for the business, suggesting that they ceased trading in Victoria. There appears to be a business in QLD with the same name, but that’s a tangent.
So basically I am getting the same results as you, different from the Wazer.
Might be worth getting the user to clear the navigation point from his cache in the App to make sure it doesn’t go back to a bad spot, in case someone previously fixed it.
Not in Vic - but I get the same result as you on the app (iOS), livemap, and Google maps. I tried a few transpositions of the street number as well and didn’t come close to the reporter’s result.
There’s a venue here: Permalink that is “1735” but is on the wrong side of the road to reporter’s screenshot.
Could it be a bad cached location? ask the reporter to delete the entry from history and search for it again. A few screenshots of the search, the results, and the other offered routes might be useful?
Had a thought relating to the reason it navigates on to the service road on the opposite side.
The Highway (Sydney Rd) is named “SR55 - Sydney Rd”, while the Service Road is named “Sydney Rd”. Since there is no marker in Waze it is navigating to the correctly named road near the destination.
Perhaps the Service Road should be named “Sydney Rd Service Road” in line with normal naming convention?
Navigating from the south (in the app) I get a route that stops at the correct location on the correct side of the road. I started my route on Wells Ct, Fawkner (here)
From the north, I get sent down the service road “opposite” and would have to play live frogger to get to go buy a van. I started on Randor St, Campbellfield (here).
If I ask to look at “routes”, They all look good. Sending me to do a u-turn.
If I do exactly the same from the livemap, I get offered 3 routes and none of them stop here. they all go further south, do a u-turn, and get back on to the correct side of the road.
Surely it’s not the street name affecting? I thought Waze just took you to the road that is straight-line closest to the pin/stop point - which is why we get reports of being sent to the back of houses (different street name from the typed destination) and have to override them!
Could it be a two segment loop somewhere? I can’t see any around though.
