Hi all…
I have just been looking at live map and wondered what has happened to the highways agency alerts. I cant remember the last time I saw one.
Whilst they were on board with the reports being in waze they weren’t particularly keen on the brute force method that had been developed to get them there (basically involved a 15-minute screen scrape).
Waze are working with them (and Traffic Scotland and Traffic Wales) to have use the DATEX link to bring a much more robust solution. Probably looking at the summer before we see them again I’m afraid!
No tfl? ![]()

Do they have any form of automatic reporting? Ideally some sort of geo-tagged RSS feed!
Might be something in this database:
Gosh, looking back at a Perl script I wrote ages ago I came across this:
Hmm, I’ll pass it along but as far as I can tell the XML doesn’t use lon/lat coordinates.
Try the second feed I posted

Problem with that one is there are currently 245 items - I think that’s information overload!
A lot happens down here!

the closest TfL has is: http://trafficalerts.tfl.gov.uk/rss/trafficalertsall.php
but as far as I can see there is no geo-tagging
…
I’m informed that TfL have a proper DATEX2 feed for their traffic reports which should mean they can be properly integrated. I’ve set the balls in motion but like the HA/TS/TW feeds I wouldn’t expect anything soon!
Brilliant, thanks for digging. I wonder if the feed has a severity rating in case Waze need to cut down the number of reports?

TfL seem very willing to work with developers to help them use feeds.
