Historical traffic data

Have there been any thoughts about keeping historical traffic data in a database to use to predict current traffic patterns? This was a feature the Dash GPS had and it might make the traffic data more useful while a critical mass of users hasn’t been reached yet.

For example, assume you’re driving home on a Wednesday at 6pm and there are no other users at that time to provide info. Dash would look up prior Wednesdays at 6pm to find the average speeds and use that as a baseline for expected speeds… This is probably oversimplifying things a lot, but that’s the general idea.

Hi Conroy,
this feature already exists in the waze you’re using today. Obviously it will improve as you, and others, drive with it over different hours of the day. But the routing of waze takes into account the current traffic patterns, as well as their history.

That’s great, thanks for the response!

I think this product has a lot of potential; hopefully it gets the publicity it needs to succeed.
