Hi all
I wonder if people realize the amount of hours I’ve spend Waze editing in my life.
Every so often I wonder “Why?”
Am I going to make the world a better place or am I just making Google richer?
Hi all
I wonder if people realize the amount of hours I’ve spend Waze editing in my life.
Every so often I wonder “Why?”
Am I going to make the world a better place or am I just making Google richer?
Especially once you realized throttling was a handbrake…
yeah
I’m wiser now. I was giving away points for years.
I make every point count now.
Its a bit of a pain sometimes. Sometimes I just want to go for it but I know I will get blocked and get no points ![]()
How can I devote a percentage of my life doing something for the public good and become “Global Champ” public enemy number one.
It is, want it is…
FYI
There are those who would like the removal of the points/rank upgrade system.
They believe that rank upgrade should be solely on edit quality and not quantity.
One of the problem with this is you and I would be locked out, yet we have done %50 - %75 of all edits done in NZ.
In the US you can only get to level 6 if you are a Global Champ.
To become a Global Champ you must be nominated them all the Global Champs vote. If you get on the bad side of Global Champs you are toast. ![]()
Wow, tough crowd…(note to self, don’t annoy ANY champs)
I can sort of see the reason, but who would decide on what is “quality”?
Quality could be smooth flowing traffic as a result of new speed limits or correctly setting turn restrictions.
Would someone check the checkers? We are “just volunteers” after all.
Getting a lot of points is a sure sign that your edits are not of quality
I think there is some truth to this.
My argument has always been “bad roads” are better than “no roads”.
I think the other factor is population density
In NZ we have a very low population density so we need to cover a lot of area.
A lot a major countries have had a base map import. We got nothing, everything is done from scratch.
Even with our imperfections we have a fully functioning routable map…
And the “Live Map” is alive today, showing the results hopefully.
haha for the uninitiated what do you mean by that?
I think the limits are approx 400 edits /hr & 2000 /day. After that you possibly wont get credit for them.
Nobody know exactly
I think its closer to 4000 per day but that very hard to get
What do you guys think of speed limits?
I’m a little under whelmed.
I was hoping for a constant warning noise over the per determined threshold.
I would have liked to see the actual speed limit displayed on the screen at all times as an option. Only displays over when over the speed limit
Yes & no.
Had it for a while now & got used to seeing it flash up.
You might get your wish regarding being shown constantly!
Agreed. My wish list would be:
I agree it should be an user selectable option, but in the meantime, have you tried the “##@debugspeed” search code? It jams on the display of the current speed limit, and it works for me.
(For those that don’t know, https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Search_codes gives these magic codes that can switch on and off some advanced features in the client app. I know that pages says ##@debugspeed only works on beta, but it seems to work okay for me!)
