The new version tomorrow is very likely exactly the same as the last beta version being tested now. You will need to make sure, as was already mentioned, that the username and password are case sensitive. They are the same as what you use now.
BTW, it is possible to add a POI in the Waze Map Editor (it’s called a Landmark). But the general consensus is that it’s best to rely on the built in External Sources for POI’s. The Landmark Layer that Waze offers does not:
- Allow for additional POI details including address, phone number, ratings, etc.
- Allow for granular POI location
- No standards set for Waze on how to mark POI’s (building, parking lot, building + parking lot, etc)
In addition, many of the map editors are very concerned with having to deal with maintaining all of these POI’s in the map. The editors are just trying to keep up with more critical map updates to unsure Waze is routing correctly. We don’t need to be side-tracked figuring out if 7-Eleven in New Amsterdam, Indiana (smallest city in the USA, BTW) is closed or their phone number has changed.
There is plenty of excellent POI data in the partner’s databases that Waze is able to query in Waze 3.
You’re right that whether a place is closed or has a current phone number isn’t a huge concern. But, if I search for 7-11, I do want to see the ones closest to me and not the one in Amsterdam (if I live in California).
I have tried the new version of waze. It is definitely better than the old one, but still not nearly as good as google maps at finding POIs. It also does not route me around traffic slow downs or jams, not does it correctly estimate my driving time to a certain location. So, other than socializing with other drivers (which I don’t really care to do), I don’t see the purpose of this program over google maps.
If it does that, report it via the form on /support. That bug has popped up before.
