My address pin location was incorrect in Waze and Google Maps. Last week I successfully updated the pin in Google Maps, as I read in Wazopedia that US addresses for Waze are pulled from Google’s data. However, while Google Maps does show it correctly now, the Waze app still shows the incorrect pin location, and thus navigates to the wrong house.
Looked in the Waze Map Editor and noticed the pin location is actually correct there. So I’m wondering how long is the “data update period” to propagate address pins from WME to Live? Or is there another step needed to push it through? Google Maps started showing the pin correctly 7 days ago.
If you have the location in your saved favorites or search history, you will keep using the old location point. Remove it completely (long press, or press the 3-dots, and then remove), and then search for it again. It should now use the new location.
Deleted the location from saved favorites. Though, on my iPhone, having trouble deleting it from search history… when it shows under the search bar, long press and the 3-dots don’t seem to be available.
However, I did try a clean install of a browser I don’t normally use (e.g. Chrome) and checked Waze map there. While logged out of Waze and with an empty browser cache, the location was still incorrect.
Live map search in the browser is powered by Google maps data, believe it or not. Waze app search is the only way to get results that are curated by map editors.
