Hello all,
I’m trying to figure out how to fix an address which is pointing to the wrong location about 0.3mi away resulting in packages being delivered to the wrong house for my in-laws. I checked in the Waze edit tool and didn’t see how to resolve this issue. Any advice would be appreciated.
There are a few possibilities to consider in the editor.
Waze uses a hierarchy of sources when searching for an address:
- Waze Residential Point Place (with house number, street name, city name, and entry/exit point) if there is the listed city name as a primary or alternate city name on a nearby segment. This will show as a triangle in the editor.
- Waze house number (base import or adjusted by editor), if there is a primary or alternate city name on the segment. This would be visible if you click on the road segment next to the address and press the H key or click the “house number” button on the top Waze toolbar.
- Google address pin (viewable if you search the address on Google Maps)
- Google interpolation address (if there is no Google pin for the address)
- Waze interpolation house number (if there is no Google data at all on the road)
The most likely scenario is that Waze does not have an address added or the segment has incomplete city information, so it’s defaulting to the Google pin. It’s possible to adjust the Google pin using the Google Maps “suggest an edit” feature.
If this doesn’t help, I would invite you to the Nebraska/Plains region editors discord server to discuss in more detail. The link is https://discord.me/wazepln
