Road rebuilding on I-696 has closed East Bound 696 from Franklin Road to the I-75 Interchange. On the Westbound portion, the now posted speed limit is 60mph. I reported this the editor but got shut down saying we don’t change speed limits for roadworks, and yet M-14 road works speed limit is posted as 60.
Please change the speed limit for Westbound I-696 as it is incorrect. This reconstruction project will continue for two years, per the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News.
Speed limits have to be changed manually - and changed back later. If an editor drives that route and can identify when, where and for how long, we can manually change the limit.
M-14 has a clear shift in place, so we know exactly where the zone is. I’ve driven 696 W and it’s not consistent at all. I’ve seen barrels blocking one, two or more lanes - or all lanes open. I’ve seen 70, 60, 55 and 45 signs on various days this spring / summer. That’s mainly the reason why it’s futile to make a change. Regardless of what happens to be in Waze, the posted speed limit on that day will be what is enforced.
