I don’t know where else to post this or where to ask for help and advice to the waze developers. There are some routes indicating to go through danger zones. Last week end I bearly made it out after being chase by a gang, and the indications waze was giving they took me through small alleys and there were not even paved roads indicated in the route in waze.
Waze needs to add a feature to indicate wich are danger zones to avoid the routes
Where are you located? Which Country? You should probably post in that Country’s specific forum.
Waze has road types for dirt roads (and their exact definiton depends on which country[state in the USA] you are in) and allys should be marked differently than regular streets.
As for Danger Zones, Waze won’t be able to do this for a few reasons
Thnx for ur answer Andy,
1.-Mexico city, Mexico; I looked for the forum but wasn’t able to find
2.- To find a dirt road in Mexico city IS VERY HARD, so you can imagine what kind it was
3.- A danger zone could be defined where services like ambulances or police cars don’t go or if they had gone they had being stolen (wouldnt that be a danger zone?)
I have moved this topic to the Mexico forum. Rofsal, please decide whether you wish to continue the conversation in Spanish or English. If you can remember the location where you didn’t want to go through, I can check wether there are any errors.
I think that must embassies encourage you to stay in tourist areas to avoid this type of problems, I think you where looking for some kind of trail or adventure trail, and there are a lot of this in Mexico. Waze is not the best tool to do this since is not intended to do so. Can you explain what kind of activities you where looking for, maybe we can help you with safer roads
Some days ago I saw an UR, in English: “[General error]- This is not a paved Street”. In Coyoacán, México, City. Indeed, it was a cobblestone Street. But there is no way to differentiate this: It is not a muddy street or much less for a 4 x 4 truck. So the waze-router will be guided by the average speed, and only will route here when the traffic of the nearby roads (paved) is more slow.
It happens many times when you add the option: Go by “the shortest route”, instead “the quick route”.
The crooks (in Mexico: rats), rarely “works” in quick Routes, unless the traffic is stopped.
Your’re right: Warning be careful with routes:
Waze doesn’t know when a route that crosses a dry stream, is flooded.
You’re driving the car.
I don’t know, how it works the “Danger zone” Landmark, and if this affects the route.
I don’t know, if some wazer feel offended when someone puts a Danger Zone Landmark in his neighborhood, saying: “thieves here”.
I believe you should modify your settings and tell it to use the fastest routes and not the shortest. It may also help to indicate to avoid dirty roads (if that’s the case). Also, Waze learns from your driving habits, maybe in the future it will avoid those streets. Other thing that might help, is to report a danger on the road and tagged something like pandillas delictivas or cholos…at least you can prevent others from driving through those streets.
Sorry Carlos but I can clearly see why the route given is through those segments, they really make a change in route length compared with going through the minor highway…
Since the only thing against the route is a dangerous area and we have no specific setting against that we should leve it as is. Using 24/7 restrictions is the same as marking the turn as not allowed and shouldn’t be done.
