Important Reminder: Ensuring Map Data Integrity and Compliance in WME Scripting

Hey,

Innovation is a core value at Waze, but as our tools become more sophisticated, we must ensure they operate within the boundaries of Google’s requirements.

For our scripters, this means that all developed scripts, tools, chrome extensions and overlays must rely exclusively on accredited data sources. Please use the Waze Map Data Attribution for the definitive list of permitted resources and the specific naming conventions required to ensure proper attribution before deployment. If you’d like to add additional open source data, please fill out this Form.

For our editors, it is essential to ensure that the scripts you use to assist your editing do not bypass these requirements or utilize unapproved third-party data.

We are continuing our transition to the managed SDK to ensure long-term stability; legacy scripts that bypass this interface will eventually cease to function, so we strongly encourage scripters to prioritize migration now.

If you have any questions regarding the suitability of a data source, please reach out to your Community or to me for validation before deployment.

Thanks,

Gal
