I hope I’m posting this in the correct place. If it’s not correct, please let me know how to move it to the correct location.
Today I had a very frustrating experience with Waze. My doctor’s office gave me the address for a surgical center for where I’m to have surgery in the near future. I decided to do a dry run to make sure I arrived at the correct location on the day of my surgery. I’m glad I did, because I spent almost an hour trying to figure out where the place was.
I input the address into Waze and it took me to a location that was very incorrect. In fact, it was about 2 miles away from the actual location. The address is 1400 McFarland Blvd N, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406. I confirmed the location on the doctor’s website. After about 30 minutes of driving around this location, I called the doctor’s office again to verify the address, and to ask if there were any nearby landmarks I could use to find it. She unfortunately couldn’t tell me about any landmarks, but did confirm the address was correct. After returning home, I did some more digging to see why there was a discrepancy between Waze and Google Maps. It appears that Waze has the address as 1400 McFarland Blvd NE instead of 1400 McFarland Blvd N.
Digging even deeper, looking at Google Maps (and Waze), it appears that that section of the road is labeled as McFarland Blvd N and also McFarland Blvd NE and also McFarland Blvd W. (Google Maps link) I don’t know if this is a Google Maps issue or a Waze issue, but since I was able to find the correct location on Google Maps, I suspect it to be more of a Waze issue.
I did the “report a map issue” thing, but I thought I’d ask here, as well, to see if there’s anything I (or someone else) can do to edit the map to correct the problem.
Were you going to Alabama Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers or Tuscaloosa Surgical Center? I have added those places to waze. I am trying to get the address to work correctly. I see the issue you were having. I will follow back up with you as soon as I can get the address corrected
I was going to the Tuscaloosa Surgical Center. It looks like it’s in the same building. DIrectly across the street from Hooligans Restaurant. And thank you so much! I’m so glad I did a dry run yesterday. I would’ve been more than an hour late for my surgery if I’d waited until the day of my surgery. I’m not from this area originally, so I had nothing to go by prior to this experience.
Thanks for reporting the issue. I also answered your report that you dropped. I would also tell you to always search for the name of the place first if possible before using the address. I will have the address issue taken care of in a couple of days. You will also need to delete any past times you have the address in you navigated history.
Thank you again. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the name of the facility at the time - I only had the address. It wasn’t until after I’d spent time driving around trying to find it, then eventually calling the doctor’s office back again, that I was given the name. I’m sorry it’s such a challenging issue to fix, but I do greatly appreciate your work! I’m sure everyone else who have tried to get there by the address alone will appreciate it, as well, even if they don’t know all the work you’re doing. <3
