The Town of St James, NC/USA, has a very large gated community inside the town with various posted speed limits up to 30 MPH. Waze frequently shows a 35 MPH limit, which is incorrect. Can a ceiling of 30 mpg be placed on the community? If a driver is actively using an automated speed control platform on their vehicle, the exposure to receiving a speeding ticket is significantly increased.
Hey,
in case that there will not answer from an local editor from noth carolina here in time, you best post this in to the local forum.

Welcome to the Waze Map Editing forums!
I’ve moved your post to the local NC forums, where a local volunteer can better help you.
To prepare, I’d recommend visiting the Waze Map Editor and getting a PermaLink to the area in question.
The local volunteers may also ask if any speed limit signs are posted in the community, and where.
You can also propose a change by going into the WME and selecting the street segments that need to be updated and change the speed limit yourself. This will cause a prompt for the local editors to review the change.
I have performed a review of the roads within St. James and there are none with a 35 mph speed limit. The majority of roads within the plantation have no limit as there is no street view available and limited information regarding speed limits in general for all of St. James
Inside the gates of approximately 6000 residences, there is a max 30mph maximum speed limit imposed by the property owners association with other lower restrictions on many streets. Tickets are issued for exceeding the posted speed limits.
It would be impossible to go to every street/court to see where the speed limit exceeds the 30 mph limit.
What would you suggest?
I can tell you today I am seeing Waze showing a 35 mph outside my house.
Hi there, I have confirmed what @CNY_STi stated on Thursday – there are no roads within the gates that have 35mph. If you could please provide us with a road name or a screenshot showing the 35mph you’re seeing, we’re happy to look into this further. Feel free to message that to me directly if you’re concerned about posting it publicly.
Additionally, I am seeing that the default speed limit set by the POA is 20mph, so if you have any information about what roads are set at 25 or 30mph, we can get the entire community updated. Thanks!
Thanks…will send you photos first chance of various locations. Yes, the default speed limit is 20 unless otherwise posted. Ridge Crest is posted as 30 and a significant part of ST James Dr. is also 30.
