Is a route needed to show alerts

Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before, but having spent the last couple of hours going through 50+ pages of posts I can’t find an answer

Do I need to have a route planned in order to see hazards such as speed cameras or police on the road I am currently travelling on?

I would like to use Waze to show me these on every trip I make but don’t want to keep having to enter my destination as usually I know how to get there

A couple things

  1. Even when you know the route, Waze is designed to use real time and historic data to determine best route.
  2. Yes, the alerts do work without a route, but they can be less reliable since Waze doesn’t know where you are planning on driving.

Thanks, so I would enter the destination and set sounds to alerts only?
