Join the 2024 Help Center Raid!

Editors, we need your help!

Outdated information is hiding on the Waze Help Center and we need you to find it!

Millions of Wazers visit our help center articles every month and we don’t want them to get confused.

Help us catch as many errors in the articles as you can in the 2024 Help Center Raid from Feb 1 - 7.

How it works:

  1. Sign up for the Help Center Raid.

  2. Raid the help center articles from Feb 1 -7 using a file we provide and search for outdated information - instructions, terminology, etc.

  3. Report each outdated phrase with a comment. Explain what’s wrong and how you would fix it.

We’ll use your reports to update the help articles so we can better support Wazers.

Everyone who participates will get a special Help Center Raider badge and your contribution to the raid will appear on the Hall of Fame Leaderboard. And most importantly, your contribution will impact millions of Wazers worldwide.

A note from the content team about how they implemented your fixes:

We went through each of your suggestions and made all the changes we could. If you happen to be looking through the articles and don’t see your suggestion, there could be a number of reasons for it. Here are the main ones:

  • We align with the latest app version, even if it’s only available to +50% of users. For future raids, we’ll include the latest app version, so raiders can compare to the version they have.

  • We set our app language to English (US). Sometimes field names vary from English (UK). For future raids, we’ll mention this language preference.

  • We aim for consistency. We have writing guidelines that help us keep everything consistent. Some wording changes didn’t meet those guidelines.

  • We prefer one method for each action. To avoid overwhelming the user with options, we only add in alternate methods if they’re done at a different point in the drive (for example: from Settings and during a drive).

  • We focus on common user issues. Some suggestions for FAQs were great, but our data showed few users asked about them. If we see an increase in questions, we’ll be sure to add them in.

  • We write for all Waze users. Because many of the users aren’t map editors, we don’t detail WME steps. If we expand to cover the WME, we’ll add them in.

  • Our documentation tools have limitations. Some suggestions were to change sections that are built-in to our help center (For example: To change the “iPhone & iPad” tab to say “iOS”).

  • Some fields or features are different per country. In these cases we choose one option, and add a note that the field or steps may vary by location.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed!
