Kindness Month: December 2020!

Dear community members,

It’s time for Kindness Month!
All through December, we’ll be dedicating our posts and activities to Kindness in the Waze Communities

Let’s kindly kick off our activity, by making sure YOU know how much we APPRECIATE your contribution!

Thank you for contributing your time, skills and effort to the community and map, especially during 2020, which managed to surprise us all!
International Volunteer day is observed on December 5, and we think it’s a great time to say Thank you for helping local drivers and global app users enjoy a better navigation experience all through the year and COVID-19!

Your contribution is what keeps this community going.

Your recent map inputs to local businesses have a lasting impact on communities, especially if this is a festive season for your region!
Imagine a world without that last edit you made on the map… Could we have made it through another day without it?

We will be sharing Kindness Month activities in this forum all through December, and invite you to read on and enjoy!
Thank you for being a part of our community!

Waiting for the opportunity to help small businesses

I feel that kentsmith9’s 6-year-old post on Forum Etiquette continues to be an excellent summary on what it means to be kind in an online community setting.

My favorite items from his list:* Assume good faith.

  • Work towards agreement.
  • Do not ignore reasonable questions.
  • Concede a point when you have no response to it, or admit when you disagree.
  • Give praise when it’s due.
To Kent’s list I would add:* Always think it possible you may be mistaken.
After several years in the community I have seen a lot of wonderfully kind interaction that follows these guidelines, but there have been more than a few exceptions. How wonderful it would be if we could all dedicate ourselves to these and the other principles in that post!
