There are major sewage works going on in the centre of Clane, Co Kildare. R403, due to sewage works.
They started pre lockdown and have resumed yesterday, but the Kilcock Rd is completely blocked off until Saturday (involves a long detour) and thereafter many other closures before the works are completed around the end of August.
Obviously I can’t edit/not sure what I’m doing but would like to add/remove these scheduled closures over the period.
Road closures are pretty fiddly to set up, so you need a highish editing rank to do them. However, I’ve just set up these ones. I hope I got them right…
Thanks for adding the works, but it’s more than just that sector. ID:104130928
Works from present to Saturday 23rd, include the two sectors to the east of that.
ID: 279995185
ID: 279995184
Cutting through the garage isn’t an option as most of the time the temporary barriers are across ID: 339371154 (well until night time at least when the take-away delivery drivers are around)
Cool - thanks for the update. I’ve updated the current closure to include these segments too.
It would be handier if you could give a permalink instead - that identifies the location as well as the segment ID - and the location is handy if the person with the permalink isn’t sure where the segment is.
To get the permalink, select the segment(s) you want to identify, then click on the little chain icon at the bottom-right of the editor, then copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. Then you can paste that into email address, forum post or whatever and everybody else knows exactly what you’re talking about.
Because the permalink includes the segment ID and we were talking about the middle of Clane, I was able to construct a permalink from the segment IDs you gave me.
I’ll have a closer look later at what they are up to. Just after the last edits, they coned off and stationed a worker at the end of Higgins Lane (access only) as a couple of near-misses with it being used as a rat run. Council has it closed off.
I presume they’ll reopen that when the reopen that main junction again. Hopefully sometime later today.
They didn’t reopen that phase on Saturday night. The weren’t working on it yesterday and have just left all the barriers and signs as they were and plant parked up.
It’s a bit difficult trying to shoot a moving target!
It’s a tiny bit easier for very big events. During the farmers’ protest a few months ago, we had a contact in Dublin City Council who fed us updates in real time as different roads opened and closed. That, plus the twitter feed from the Garda and other news sources meant we were able to mostly keep on top of it…
I doubt the workers here will be maintaining a live twitter feed
Yep - I replied to the UR and then checked the closure dates again; it looks like some of the phases have shifted by a couple of days, so I’ve updated the closures too.
