LeClaire, IA has cameras that write you a [speeding] ticket!

[I’ve seen red light cameras that write tickets. this is normal in large cities and beyond, but never a Highway “speeding ticket” writing camera]

I recently drove from Denver to Chicago. When I got back I has a speeding ticket in the mail. I had set my cruise for 10 mph over the limit the whole way. I passed many cops over the two days and they could care less about this “excessive speeding”, however when passing through a small, surveillance state town called LeClaire in Iowa, a camera wrote me a ticket. Didn’t see the camera, but the ticket sites the city of LeClaire’s Municipal Code. SOOOOOO, why is this whole town not marked on Waze full time as a SPEED TRAP???

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ll add the cameras to the map.

Thank you. Couldn’t believe it. I’ve driven cross country for years and to one day get a ticket in the mail from a camera in 1 city is outrageous and has given me motivation to spend time on this multi-pronged campaign to save others from this, and to take a lot more away from them, than I gave them (which was $75, plus probably a convenience fee to pay it online).

Final comment, LeClaire is at the junction of 80, and the Mississippi River, so luckily it is easy to remember where to be careful. At 6mph over the limit, they start charging you.

Also make sure you have alerts enabled for speed cameras.
