In the northbound direction at Clayton, U-turns are explicitly permitted by signage. But there’s no way for the current connectors to support this on the map.
One option is to allow lefts from the N Market-Clayton connector to the Clayton-S Market connector. If the Clayton-S Market connector is changed to No Name, I think that would result in instructions to “turn left, then turn left on Market”. If it is left as is, it would say “turn left at Clayton, then turn left on Market”.
Another option is to add a U-turn segment on Market. That would give instructions to “turn left on Market”.
Not sure which is more desirable, but one of the two needs to be done. I’ll be glad when Waze is able to say “make a U-turn”…
You know, I figured I’d never get a U-turn routing, and the just a couple of days ago I got one. It was strange hearing the instructions to turn left on 8th Avenue and then left on Geary (I was already on Geary on the other side). So that’s what a divided road “U-turn” sounds like. Not pretty, but functional, I guess. Seems like some logic could be added that would recognize a nearby street going the opposite direction and give the instruction “Make a U-turn at 8th Avenue”.
Anyway, thanks for the fix. And the pointer about the # in the URL. I didn’t realize the effect…I was getting the link from the Permalink button, which apparently isn’t smart enough to handle the situation where you click it on a page that ends in #.
It’s hard to know, since we don’t get to put notes in the segments. That’d make it much easier to tell why there was a lock, and whether something was missed by the person who locked it.
If it would help, I’d be happy to contact you directly when there’s a requested change for something that you locked.
