Waze is consistently routing westbound traffic on Highway 2 off the highway onto the Military Trail / Morrish offramp and then promptly back onto the highway - the provided directions become very confusing as a result to someone who is not familiar with the area and knows better than to follow them. It’s also illegal in this area to pass through the offramp/onramp at high speed as waze suggests.

I suspect this odd routing is more likely to do with GPS errors providing questionable speed data for the offramp area vs the main highway.

I propose adding turn restriction on the straight through section (near the actual “loop” portion of Military Trail) that will force routing to actual exit at the Military Trail / Morrish road loop, thereby causing better routing. There are no negative implications since the way these roads work, aside from the “exit and back on” routing it will effect nothing in the area.

(Oddly enough, the highway is locked level 1, but the ramp in question is locked level 5)

Thanks.

Curious why you say this is illegal. Is there signage? Could the exit be designated as a ramp to fix this? There’s a similar roadway at 404/401 which is often used to bypass traffic but in the map it is designated as a ramp.

Routing on the live map seems to avoid using the “ramp” to bypass the main 404.

It may depend on the time of day, but the livemap should be using the same routing engine as the client – that shouldn’t be an issue.

As for the off-and-on again action – usually ramps have a slower speed limit, but that doesn’t mean they’re slower than using the freeway they’re next to. They often parallel the freeway for a spell, and can often get their Waze Speed Data contaminated by the freeway’s traffic.

I’ve updated some of the geometry of the roads, and also changed that ramp area to “Ramp” type – that is a correct usage of the Ramp type.

My wife went through this area today and it did it again. Hopefully the updates will resolve it eventually. Thanks guys.
