did you try to PM harling? He is usually pretty responsive.

Just sent him one. Thanks.

We just fixed that area not that long ago…

it looks like user “tcd” split McGrath (unnecessarily at that) and broke it.

Alright, I’ve removed the unnecessary split of McGrath & fixed all the problems.

Give it a few days for the fix to make it to the client map.

Are we confident enough in all the newly-reconstructed turn restrictions that it’s “safe” to lock it down?

One more reason that vast tracts of downtown Boston ought to be L4, regardless of segment type.

I went through with the street view and disabled all the lefts that would go through the center barrier. I’ll keep an eye on the area and hope scott_h will do the same. If I did mess something up just let me know via PM - or post here in the unlock forum - I look at least once or twice a day (usually more).

Locking all of Boston at level 4 seems a little extreme, but I have wondered if there is a script to do something like that. If possible it seems very reasonable to lock anything labelled as a freeway or major highway and related ramps to at least level 2 unless it’s already locked higher. I assume that there are guidelines about this not locking things which will discourage new editors, but requiring someone to at least attain level 2 before touching a highway shows they are somewhat skilled and motivated enough to figure out some of the processes.

Standard procedure is to lock all limited access highways at level 3 or higher (usually a level 5).

There are also many critical roads in downtown Boston that are not limited-access, yet still need to be protected from well-intentioned but inexperienced editors, to forfend the hours of rework and hundreds (perhaps thousands) of broken routes that often result.

I agree here as well - there are many critical routes that are not limited access & should probably be locked… I was simply pointing out our policy for limited access highways to scott_h.

I do prefer to lock only parts that someone could try to “fix” but in reality it works perfectly & is complicated and really shouldn’t be touched.

I’ve also been working on time-restricted turns in Manhattan & am locking the 4 roads at level 5 to prevent someone without beta access from “fixing” the turn restrictions.
