I went through with the street view and disabled all the lefts that would go through the center barrier. I’ll keep an eye on the area and hope scott_h will do the same. If I did mess something up just let me know via PM - or post here in the unlock forum - I look at least once or twice a day (usually more).
Locking all of Boston at level 4 seems a little extreme, but I have wondered if there is a script to do something like that. If possible it seems very reasonable to lock anything labelled as a freeway or major highway and related ramps to at least level 2 unless it’s already locked higher. I assume that there are guidelines about this not locking things which will discourage new editors, but requiring someone to at least attain level 2 before touching a highway shows they are somewhat skilled and motivated enough to figure out some of the processes.
There are also many critical roads in downtown Boston that are not limited-access, yet still need to be protected from well-intentioned but inexperienced editors, to forfend the hours of rework and hundreds (perhaps thousands) of broken routes that often result.
I agree here as well - there are many critical routes that are not limited access & should probably be locked… I was simply pointing out our policy for limited access highways to scott_h.
I do prefer to lock only parts that someone could try to “fix” but in reality it works perfectly & is complicated and really shouldn’t be touched.
I’ve also been working on time-restricted turns in Manhattan & am locking the 4 roads at level 5 to prevent someone without beta access from “fixing” the turn restrictions.
