Level 5 Unlock - Chantilly VA

I’m only a level 1 editor so I can’t make this change.

Simply need to add a ramp between Fairfax County Parkway and Fair Lakes Parkway. I’ve added the ramp but I cannot edit the surrounding roads to change what turns are allowed, etc…

Fixed

Is the turn lane there separated from the intersection far enough to require a separate at grade connector?

I kind of doubt it, but when I approach that interchange it is usually from the south, so I’m not sure about this ramp in the southbound direction. Next time I’m there, I’ll take a look.

I can see that it looks borderline as drawn. The GPS tracks are a mess - probably because of the construction. But I think the split starts far enough back from the intersection to justify a separate segment.

Google maps shows the satellite overlay with the turn lane and ramp:

Thank you for making the fix!

I think everyone commenting on this is aware that there are turn lanes at those intersections. When Mike-1323 asked:

that was a hint to you to review the page in the wiki that he linked. I hope you’ll take the hint.

Although this page (linked to in the page that Mike cited) actually addresses the question should the connector be mapped.

D’oh! I thought that was what I hadlinked to. :oops

From the alternate aerials it looks borderline for mapping. I personally would not map it unless MP or UR start popping up. But since it’s already there I’ll fix it since it requires moving the junction nodes. (btw, that’s an excessive number of geometry points) Now users should get a turn instruction at the point where the turn lane diverges from the ramp (zoom all the way in to see the geometry of that junction) and no MP or UR should ever be created.
