As a new wazer, I encountered some weird routing options for my daily commute. I traced it down to some redundant/badly connected segments on the Keerensheide junction in the A2 highway, near Geleen in the Netherlands.
This construction was designed to prevent routing along the parallel lane when you do not have to change to the A76. I do see a problem though, the short stub that has been added to force a keep right for the cloaver leaf was two way, which may have caused a route onto the stub and back.
You will find this construction, or one like it, on most of the cloaver leaf junctions with parallel lanes in NL.
