Level1(auto) Update: Greenhills, Randfontein (Homestead Ave)

My Level: 2
Reason for request:
There was a missing off-ramp. I have already added it, but do not have permission to edit the turns of the existing roads.

Can someone please fix that or unlock the road temporarily?

Quite often these slipways are not necessary - I have, however, unlocked for you as in this case it may be required. In future please request the unlock before adding the slipways, there may be a tile update between you adding it and the segment actually being connected.

Hi elphix!

Thank your for doing the unlock.
I have made the changes; feel free to re-lock if needed.

And thank you for telling me to first request the unlock. I thought it would make it easier for you if you would prefer to make the turn direction changes yourself, but did not think of tile updates possibly occurring. In the future, I will do the request first.

Hi Voldemortina

A couple of points to help you out:

Firstly, when requesting an unlock, please use the subject format of “highest segment locked level > your level, Unlock, area.”

You’ve got the editing basics right, and the contents of your requests are fine, and you’ve got permalinks working, but the subjects are confusing me. I’m not sure what you mean by Level1(auto), as you can already edit L1 segments. It’s the L3 segment you’re requesting the unlock for, so in this case, the subject should be “L3 > L2 unlock, Greenhills, Randfontein”.

There is method in this madness. If an unlock request asking for an L3 > L2 unlock, then an L3 editor in that area with editing rights can unlock the segment(s). Similarly, in the unlikely event that a L2 > L1 request be submitted for an area where you have editing rights, you can unlock the segment(s).

As for the permalink, please create the permalink with all the segments that you want unlocked highlighted.

Secondly, please do yourself a favour and install a few of the WME scripts, at the very least, the WME Toolbox, and the WME Colour Highlighter, and possiblle even the WME Validator. These will help identify a whole host of issues.

Thank you.

In fact, I have installed WME Toolbox, which helped me with the permalinks and post topics. The topic titles was filled in by WME Toolbox, but I will be sure to change them in the future.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hmm. That’s interesting. I’ve never used the WME Toolbox for that, and didn’t even know it could! The odd level request may have something to do with which segment or junction is selected, and I’ll have to look into the wording. Each country does things slightly differently, so maybe there is a way of customizing it for South Africa.

I used these red icons it adds in the lower right hand corner:

I will check to see if the behaviour can be changed somehow.

Thanks. You learn something new every day. The logic is a bit broken, as when I try it, the subject is “Level3→L5 Unlock: Bethulie (R701)”. Why would a L5 editor be asking for a L3 unlock? A more appropriate response would be a HUGE popup window, saying “Hey dude, wake up and engage brain!”

And I’m not why your one says update. Ahh. You are using the update button, third from the right. For unlock requests, rather use the open padlock button, fourth from the right, which then uses the correct subject format. I’m not too sure why the update request button also posts into the unlock forum, but that’s another story.
