Level4→L2 Unlock: British Columbia - Surrey (100 Ave)

Would like to rename Old Yale Rd. Reflected by signage and City of Surrey Mapping Online System.

Rename it how? SV shows that the segment is correctly named, although there is another issue which needs to be corrected. Post back if you can find it…

Kayos, he is referring to that segment, its currently labeled as 100 Ave – West of King George (confirmed by SV) it is indeed Old Yale Rd.

OK, for some reason I missed that when I looked this morning, but there are more changes than just that segment that are required.

It’s a subtle change that’s needed. Think about what TTS instructions you would be provided to turn left when you are NB and SB on King George…

My best guess was that it has to do with the naming of the segment between the SB/NB lanes of King George. In this case it needs a different name depending on the direction your’re travelling. No idea how that can be implemented.
I found reference in the wiki to the fact that this should be unnamed and therefore inherits the name of the road your turning onto but this doesn’t appear to be done in practice. Guess I need a bigger nudge.

No, you got it, good job! Why do you say it doesn’t appear to be done in practice? If the segment names are the same on both sides, the cross segment can also have the same name. If they are different names, the cross segment is set to No Name to inherit the downstream segment name for the TTS directions. I had unlocked both segments if you want to make the appropriate changes and post back when you’re done.

Thanks for the information this will be useful in the future I’m sure.
I did a quick look at intersections with similar setups in the area and I noticed it wasn’t implemented like this i.e. Fraser and 98th. I’ll throw in a unlock request for that segment. I know this has been a annoyance for me on the client side of things in the past so it will be great to get this fixed up.

Ready for relock.

Relocked.
